*review before publishing* Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)

Changes in the nursing regulatory processes to obtain a UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) PIN require all Internationally Educated and/or Registered Nurses (both EU and non-EU) to undertake a NMC Test of Competence Part 2 (for non-EU) and Part 4 (for EU) by means of an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) at the University of Northampton, Oxford Brookes University or Ulster University.  The OSCE simulates a clinical environment and ‘patient’ scenarios which Registered Nurses/Nursing Associates are likely to encounter. Candidates are expected to demonstrate safe practical application of nursing skills with the Test of Competence being blueprinted against the current UK pre-registration standards.

The purpose of this 7-day workshop is to allow nurses/nursing associates seeking NMC registration to undertake formative OSCE assessments prior to attending for formal testing at any of the above test centres.

The workshop consists of 4 days on-line theory plus 3 days practical training with individual assessment that covers all NMC OSCE requirements and the key CHG mandatory training requirements for the induction period.

At the end of the formative assessments, candidates will be provided detailed feedback on their performance and be booked onto the OSCE at any of the above test centres. They will be provided with a handbook to to guide independent practice prior to undertaking the actual OSCE test.

It is expected that the following outline timeline will be followed
