City and Guilds Legionella – Responsible Persons – Managing Water Safety in Healthcare Premises

This training course is ideal for people who have been appointed as the legionella responsible person or their deputy.

These roles typically have significant control over and responsibility for the management of legionella in the workplace, in accordance the Health and Safety Executives ACOP L8, HTM-04 and Health and Safety Guidance HSG274.

Typically candidates will have management responsibility for the day-to-day control of legionella risks, the safe storage of water and safe operation of water systems under their control.

By the end of this course you will be better able to:

  • Have a detailed understanding of both the current regulatory framework specific to the control of Legionella bacteria in hot and cold water systems, and other risk systems; and those steps required to achieve compliance with UK law.
  • Additionally, this training course will also give candidates the skills and technical knowledge to implement, manage and review appropriate control measures and risk management strategies specific to hot and cold water systems, and other engineered water systems in accordance with the HSE’s ACOP L8, HTM-04, and health and safety guidance document HSG274.

Entry Requirements:

This course is suitable for:

  • Responsible Person and Deputy Responsible Person from each site including Hospitals, Decontamination Centres, offices.
  • Operations Director / Manager is the site’s Responsible Person.
  • Operations Director / Manager to appoint a Deputy Responsible Person.
  • Regional Engineering Managers.
  • Regional Health and Safety Managers.

A signed Learning Agreement will be required upon application.
